Jazz viola player Oene van Geel won this year’s Boy Edgar Prize, the most important award for Jazz musicians in The Netherlands. The reason why Oene is this year’s winner will be clearly displayed at our stage in Wageningen. The music of the Nordanians, featuring Maarten Ornstein on clarinets and saxophone, is based on traditional Ragas, steaming funk and delicate classical chamber music. This very special live music touches the heart of the listener instantly. Besides Oene van Geel and Maarten Ornstein there will be Mark Tuinstra on guitar and Niti Rajan Biswas on tabla.
The name Nordanians finds its origin in Amsterdam North. The place where the three musicians live. It could be that this geographical advantage ensures that the musicians react so vital to each other and play as a surprising unity at the same time. No matter how wild or mild they play, their joy is always projecting. Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the best Dutch live-acts playing in Wageningen.
