Excited

Jazz in Wageningen is very excited about the concert of Enrico Pieranunzi New European Trio. The Italian pianist / composer Enrico Pieranunzi is one of the most important and influential European jazz pianists of the past 30 years. For many years he has been a source of inspiration for many pianists and musicians around the world.

Lyrical and European

Deeply influenced by the music of pianists Bill Evans and Chick Corea

Pieranunzi has developed an own lyrical European style, which merges jazz, classical and Latin American music at the same level. The famous recordings with trumpeter Chet Baker, bassists Marc Johnson, Charlie Haden and John Patitucci and drummer Joey Baron, Paul Motian and Antonio Sanchez are just a small part of his very impressive CV. He also made several solo albums with not only his own compositions but also the music of classical composers, Domenico Scarlatti, Johan S. Bach and Georg F. Handel. He also can be

heard as a pianist in the filmmusic of Ennio Morricone. The music of Morricone inspired Pieranunzi, and he made two jazz CD's based on this music.

New European Trio

The New European Trio (with bassist Jasper Somsen and drummer Pieter Bast) was formed in 2010 after the release of the CD "Dreams, Thoughts & Poetry" of the Jasper Somsen Group. Pieranunzi was so enthusiastic that he proposed to form this trio. In the autumn of 2012 the New

European Trio did a number of concerts in the Netherlands and Germany.
