Tineke Postma
Tineke Postma (1978) is internationaal de meest succesvolle Nederlandse jazz saxofoniste. Ze speelt de altsaxofoon en sopraansaxofoon, met soms een uitstapje naar de tenorsaxofoon. De persoonlijke stijl van Tineke kan worden omschreven als lyrisch, melodisch en avontuurlijk.
Grammy’s & Edisons
Postma verscheen op twee Grammy-winnende albums (Terri Lyne Carrington’s The Mozaïek Project, en Dianne Reeves’ Beautiful). Daarnaast grossiert ze in grote (internationale) onderscheidingen, waaronder European Musician of the Year (Académie du Jazz, 2020), de Buma Boy Edgar Award (2015) en twee Edison Awards (2011, 2024).
Wayne Shorter
Postma heeft samengewerkt met artiesten als Kenny Barron, Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock en de WDR Big Band, en trad op op evenementen als International Jazz Day (VN, 2012) en de Kennedy Center Honours (2018).
In 2023 werd Tineke door Esperanza Spalding uitgenodigd om de rol van Wayne Shorter te vertolken in een concert met zijn symfonische werken, zoals Gaia, Orbits en een deel van de opera Iphegenia. De uitnodiging om in de voetsporen van Wayne Shorter te treden was een persoonlijke aanbeveling van de meester zelf, vlak voor zijn overlijden in 2023.
North Sea Jazz
Op North Sea Jazz is ze geen onbekende. Geregeld is zij daar op het podium te vinden. Ook in 2025 ontbrak ze niet. In dat jaar trad ze op in de rol van Wayne Shorter. Ze stapte in zijn huid door zijn symfonische werken uit te voeren samen met zijn oude bandleden Danilo Perez en John Patitucc.
VOYA
The new album VOYA, released on November 14, 2025, by the Swiss label Clap Your Hands, shines a spotlight on Tineke Postma and her group as they explore new musical horizons. The Tineke Postma Group leads the audience on a journey full of sound and emotion. The title VOYA refers to voyage, voice, and Oya, the Yoruba goddess of wind, breath, and transformation, and also contains a subtle tribute to mentor Wayne Shorter with the composition *A Place Called Somewhere*. Prepare yourself for an evening where Tineke's lyricism and imagination take center stage and where every note tells a story.
