Marc van Roon

After graduating from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague at a very young age, Marc van Roon literally flew to New York to continue studying with grandmasters such as Barry Harris. He performed there with jazz legends like Clark Terry, Dave Liebman, Art Farmer and Charlie Mariano.

Marc is known for his successful collaborations with saxophonist Tineke Postma, trumpeter Eric Vloeimans and vocalist Fay Claassen. As a producer and pianist, he won two Edisons for Tineke Postma's albums “The Dawn of Light” and “Sonic Halo” (with Greg Osby). He also wrote compositions for the Dutch Dance Theater and the National Ballet. Not well known in the Netherlands, but well known in Asia, is the many years of success of the European Jazz Trio, with which he has toured Japan, Taiwan and South Korea since 1995 and recorded many albums. He is a teacher at the conservatories in The Hague, Utrecht and Groningen.

Joost Patocka

Drummer Joost Patocka is an indispensable part of the (inter)national jazz scene. His beautiful discography and many collaborations include the biggest names in Dutch jazz history, including Rita Reys, Ruud Jacobs, Benjamin Herman, Piet Noordijk, Hans Dulfer, Jesse van Ruller, Ruben Hein, Francien van Tuinen and The Beets Brothers. He has been the creative brain and organizer of successful jazz concerts in his hometown of Aartswoud for years, which is actually comparable in some aspects to Jazz in Wageningen. One of his latest initiatives in Aartswoud is the Drum Festival, where drummers play a central role in the program. Joost's playing is always razor sharp, interactive, laced with humor and swings like crazy.
