Jazz-Funk-Soul stage
For the Liberation Festival 2024 in Wageningen, Jazz in Wageningen and Popupop were asked to help program one of the stages. That became the Jazz-Funk-Soul stage. What can you hear there?
Tussen de bedrijven | Radio Barkas
Radio Barkas plays vinyl. With their DJ booth built from an old Barkas 1000. One of the most beautiful cars that the Eastern Bloc has produced. It doesn't drive anymore (better for the climate too) but music makes it all the more enjoyable. And they also play super cool music.

Radiohop is a young band from Amsterdam. These four guys from the Conservatory of Amsterdam play a mix of hip-hop, funk, soul and jazz. They are influenced by greats such as J Dilla, D'Angelo and Herbie Hancock.

Fenix is currently making a name for itself on Dutch jazz stages and festivals with their playful and open music. Ambient atmospheres and raw grooves meet in this electronic-acoustic band. The foursome takes an example from kindred spirits such as Donny McCaslin, Avishai Cohen and ADHD.

With Kaisan Norris (vocals), Bobby van den Bergh (keys/bass synth), Wesley Glasmacher (drums), JiMy Glasmacher (guitar) and Susanne Alt (sax). A promising combination of tight soul and funk with the fantastic sax of Susanne Alt.
BRUUT!

BRUUT! is a Dutch jazz band from Amsterdam. They describe the music they play as super jazz, on the one hand between jazz and rock, on the other hand inspired by the boogaloo. In 2012, BRUUT! released his first album of the same name and they have now completed quite a few albums. They performed it as a live act at the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Tokyo Jazz Festival.

Montis, Goudsmit & Directie are now veterans of the Dutch jazz and soul scene. The drum, guitar and Hammond trio surprises audiences with dazzling live shows and has toured extensively since its founding in 2019. From North Sea Jazz Festival to Zwarte Cross, from Paradiso to Bimhuis. The infectious grooves, improvisations and energy always work.
