Emma Rawicz
Emma Rawicz is one of the rapidly rising stars of London's prominent modern jazz scene.
Despite her young age of 23, she has already achieved a great deal: at 19, Rawicz self-released her critically acclaimed debut album "Incantation" and single-handedly led an extensive UK tour, including headlining performances at prestigious venues such as the Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott's. Since then, her international career has flourished, with performances in over 15 countries and extensive tours, particularly in Germany and Scandinavia. In 2023, she made her label debut with one of the world's leading jazz labels, ACT, and released her album "Chroma," which received international acclaim and was notably chosen as Guardian Album of the Month: "With 'Chroma,' young British jazz star Emma Rawicz takes admirable risks and continues her meteoric rise."
Jamie Cullum
Jamie Cullum is a big fan of Emma Rawicz. He calls her "an astonishing talent." And according to the BBC, Emma Rawicz's name is on everyone's lips!
Gwilym Simcock
Gwilym Simcock has built a career as one of the most gifted pianists and imaginative composers in Europe. He moves effortlessly between jazz and classical music, with a "harmonic refinement and subtle interweaving of musical traditions." Gwilym is hailed as a pianist with an "exceptional," "brilliant," and "dazzling" talent, and his music is widely praised as "captivating, exciting, often unexpected, melodically compelling, complex yet immensely accessible," and above all, "wonderfully optimistic."
Chick Corea over Gwilym: Gwilym’s an original. A creative genius”
Pat Metheny over Gwilym: Gwilym is one of the most exceptional musicians that I have ever known .. he’s a really significant force in music”
Big Visit
In March 2025, the duo released their new album, Big Visit. It features two exceptional figures from the vibrant British jazz scene in an intimate and lively musical conversation.
Big Visit marks the beginning of an exciting musical collaboration between Emma Rawicz and Gwilym Simcock. The album features original compositions by Emma and Gwilym, written specifically for their collaboration, as well as arrangements of their favorite songs like “You’ve Changed” and “Visions.” Their chemistry and shared passion for music shine through in every song, and the album’s title reflects the free-spirited nature of their recording process.
This album is special to us—the genesis of a musical connection that we are certain will be long-lasting and fruitful. There's no better way to begin and develop a musical relationship than in a duo setting, and you can hear this connection blossoming in real time on the album.
We both contributed music, written specifically for each other, and two songs we love to play: "You've Changed" and "Visions." Creating and developing this music together was an exciting and fulfilling process, based on a shared love for the many influences that shaped our early musical lives, while simultaneously exploring new and different spaces for both of us.
The joy inherent in making music is central to our approach, and our recording day was filled with creativity and freedom. (Indeed, much more music was recorded, and we hope to share it with you in the future!). The title "Big Visit" represents the ease we experienced during the recording, and we hope you find something special and captivating in this music every time you listen. Enjoy! - Emma & Gwilym
