Paolo Fresu was high on our wish list and we are very happy that he is coming to play at our stage with the Rembrandt Frerichs Trio. And this is going to be a special concert. In 2016 and 2019, these musicians already played together and that resulted in sold-out halls and raving reactions.
What an experience
Paolo Fresu (Berchidda, Sardinia, 1961) studied at the Sassari Conservatory and later at the University of Music and Fine Arts in Bologna under Enrico Rava. Soon after, he belongs to the top of European jazz. There are those who find his style similar to Miles Davis's. Paolo has worked with big names such as Carla Bley, Stefano Bollani, Ralph Towner, Richard Galliano and Omar Sosa and he has been very active as a band leader and initiator of festivals.
He has won many prizes, is a professor at several Italian and international conservatories. He played on more than 350 albums, did multi-media projects, collaborated with dancers, painters, sculptors and poets, made music for film, ballet and theater. But perhaps the most important thing for us is that in 2009 he left us completely stunned after a concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival (in Madeira, with Uri Caine and the Alborada String Quartet) that we will never forget. What an experience that was!
Rembrandt Frerichs Trio
The Rembrandt Frerichs Trio will be known to many of our regular visitors. They have played with us before and are without a doubt among the very best jazz our country has to offer. With Rembrandt Frerichs on piano, Tony Overwater on bass and
