Hamar
Many Dutch people know Hamar from the Vikingskipet where the Olympic Games were skated in 1994. And where Johan Olav Koss won 3x gold and drove the Dutch skaters on a heap. Later, Sven Kramer softened that defeat a little bit by becoming 4x world champion on that same ice rink. So Hamar. Silje Nergaard grew up there and came into contact with jazz at a young age. She was also influenced by musicians such as Al Jarreau (with whom she would later collaborate) and Joni Mitchell, her musical idols of that time.
International
She released her first album "Tell Me Where You're Going" (EMI) in 1990 and it immediately sold very well in Norway. After several albums she had her definitive international breakthrough in 2001 with "At First Light". That is still the best-selling jazz album in Norway. She won an Edison and a Grammy Nomination for her album "A Thousand True Stories" together with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra.
